Summer Term 2024 - 2025
Mrs Williams
Class 1 are having a brilliant summer term!
The main highlight has to be our trip to Peak Wildlife Park. We are hoping to see the smaller animals but most excitingly the polar bears! The children are taking part in an African Animal Workshop which will pull together our work on the animals we might see near our school and how these contrast to the animals and habitats in Africa.
In Literacy we are working on comparing two Fairy Tales. In Summer 1 we will be basing our literacy lessons around the text 'Rapunzel' by Bethan Woolvin and in Summer 2 'Little Red' also by Bethan Woolvin. So far we are loving the attitudes of the characters... they are not what we would usually expect for fairy tale characters!
Our Maths topics include direction, shape, numbers to 100 and sharing and grouping for year 1 and manipulating number, shape, sharing and grouping and number to 20 with reception.
In phonics our year 1's will have their phonics screening this term and our reception children will begin to expand their knowledge of sounds into reading and blending longer sentences.
Our topics will include Africa and Castles and in ICT we will continue to look more closely at internet safety and being safe online.
Enrichment is always a highlight of our week and this term we will be cooking and developing our physical movement in a bike session to complete the week.
What a great ending to a lovely year together.
